About Matt
Matt Gould founded Lyrical Pipe Creative, LLC while continuing his 30-year career as a Live Event and Television Director, Producer and Camera Operator. His assignments have taken him across the globe, including documentary projects in Africa, Eastern Europe and Asia as well as Producing major Music Festivals.
Sports Television has been a constant in his career, covering Super Bowls, Stanley Cup Finals, and a member of the NBC Sports Winter and Summer Olympics team. Matt has also had the honor of contributing to the TV teams that provide international coverage of the U.S. Presidential Debates, Conventions, and Inauguration. He's currently the Television Director for the Buffalo Sabres (NHL). He also Directs the Buffalo Bills (NFL) preseason broadcasts.

Aside from producing transformative stories for clients and traveling for major events, Matt has enjoyed partnering on projects at home...including Directing the annual Musical at his local high school in Eden, NY.
Matt is blessed with three incredible young adults; Tahlia, Caleb, and Gianna and the king of the home, Tucker, the family Cavalier Spaniel.

What's in a name?

A profile in the October 20, 1990 edition of the Dunkirk Evening Observer carried quite the description of my Grandfather.

"A man with solid convictions and unfailing integrity, he is well known for speaking his mind in a calm and deliberate manner with the intent to create a climate of reason rather than to merely offend the opposing viewpoints."

Don Bixby was larger than life to me. To this day, I can smell his pipe. Just the thought of the smell comforts me the same way it did as a young guy sitting quietly in his basement den, listening to the local classical radio station (WNED), reading a book or watching him expertly tie a fly for an upcoming morning of trout fishing in Cattaraugus Creek.
He personified peace. He was also an expert storyteller. He wasn't one to tell tall tales of larger than life catches from a fishing excursion. No, he just told simple stories well. He loved to rhyme. His poems written for birthdays and holidays were (and still are even after his passing) a family tradition.
When you think of a pipe, you naturally think of big personalities.
Mark Twain, General Douglas MacArthur, Albert Einstein, Sherlock Holmes...
it's a long list. Some great storytellers on that list, too. But for me, it's the legacy that Don Bixby has left in my life. I can think of no better way to honor that legacy than to have a little fun naming a company that helps creatively tell stories even indirectly after him.

I recently found some old recordings of him reading some of his thoughts on life after he recorded a few Christmas rhymes for the season. You might find them interesting. Or, as you'll hear Gramps say, "burn the tape if you don't like 'em"

Third and most important in my mind – he is a person of excellent character as a father and a work professional. Matt and I have done many projects together – from NHL Playoff games in Canada, to Winter Olympic Freestyle Skiing in South Korea to multiple live 4-hour NHL Drafts in the U.S. – and he always impresses.
